I come from Rockford, MN, a small town surrounded by corn fields about an hour West of the Twin Cities.
I'm currently a senior at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, where I study Astronomy and Physics. Outside of my classes, I also conduct research on the coolest astronomical object out there, globular star clusters. My current research focuses on discovering new globular clusters in the Andromeda Galaxy that are really far from its center. I'm also a member of the Michigan Data Science Team; a fun, project-based data science club at UMich.
In my free time I enjoy working on data science projects as a way to get more coding practice as well as learn about something that interests me. One example is my Etsy art listing project, which involves using webscraped Etsy listings to learn about what features of a piece are most relevant to listing price. In addition to a passion for data science and coding, I have developed a love for painting over the past few years. Recently, I have been exploring oil paint as a medium. Feel free to check out some of my latest oil pieces in The Gallery. Other things I enjoy doing in my free time include: reading, playing various instruments (piano, trumpet, guitar), playing outdoor sports (volleyball, frisbee, spikeball), and enjoying nature.
